Writer Angie Cruz, shortlisted for the 2020 Women’s Prize for Fiction with Dominicana, will be in conversation with AllBright Co-founder and Women’s Prize trustee Debbie Wosskow, discussing her writing style, why we need to include more characters of diverse backgrounds in fiction and the role of fiction in considering social issues.
Dominicana is a timeless coming-of-age story of a young woman finding her way in the world, plunged into American life from the Dominican Republic. It was named the most anticipated/best book in 2019 by Time, Newsweek, People, Oprah Magazine, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and Esquire. Angie is the author of two other novels, Soledad and Let It Rain Coffee, and will be speaking to Debbie live from New York.
