Each week until the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction winner’s announcement on June 7th, we’ll be giving you an insight into the workspaces of our brilliant 2017 shortlisted authors. First up, Linda Grant, shortlisted for The Dark Circle, takes us on a tour of her office room, where she writes all of her fiction.
Where do you write?
In my office which is the second bedroom in my flat. It’s a sliver of a room, measuring 12 by six feet. I never write outside the house, never in cafes or in any public place.
What do you have on your desk?
Notebooks, files, sellotape dispenser, pens, dictionary and thesaurus, stapler, laptop, separate keyboard.
What can you see from your window?
A large London plane tree which was pollarded the winter before last and is greening again. Also through a gap between two buildings across the road, the Shard. That and the London skyline are inspirational.
