Raven Leilani was born in the Bronx in 1990, but the family moved to a small town near Albany in upstate New York when she was seven. In 2017 she began her MFA at New York University, where she studied under Zadie Smith, and was the Axinn Foundation Writer in Residence. Her work has been published in Granta, McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern and The Cut, among other publications. Luster is her first novel. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
