Legacy

Safeguard the future of women’s writing

The Women’s Prize is committed to making a lasting impact on the future of literature. We champion the widest range of women’s voices and stories from all over the world, and promote gender equality. By leaving a gift to the Prize in your will, you too can make the most personal and lasting impact on the future of literature written by women.

Whatever makes the Women’s Prize special to you, your legacy, however big or small, is an important way to help us sustain our work for future generations to come, enabling us to continue engaging with the most exciting female writers whilst keeping readers at the forefront of the very best writing.

“The Women’s Prize has done amazing work over the last quarter century and I hope this will continue long into the future. Having finally got round to writing my will, it has given me great pleasure to include a bequest to support this work. Like most people, my family will come first, but when I am no longer around, it’s also lovely to know I will be playing a small part in continuing to champion’s women’s voices.”

If you decide to leave a gift in your will, you can choose to support our work with a fixed amount or a share of your estate. As a registered charity (Women’s Prize Trust, No. 1181253), any gift left to the Prize can reduce the inheritance tax that has to be paid and will enable you to support us without making an immediate financial outlay.

If you have included the Prize in your will, or intend to, we would love to know so we can thank you for your generosity and keep you updated about our work. Please rest assured all information will be treated in confidence.

For professional and comprehensive advice when writing or amending your will, we recommend that you consult a solicitor who will be able to give you specialist advice according to your own individual circumstances.

The Women’s Prize for Fiction is the Prize that gets to places that other prizes don’t get. It has a radar out on the world that the other prizes just miss.
