Readers' Circle

Connect readers with great writing by women as a Readers’ Circle member

The Readers’ Circle is a group of special individuals who want to join us in supporting women’s voices to be raised and heard. For 25 years the Women’s Prize for Fiction has championed women’s writing and brought it to more readers than ever before. Now, we are extending our work across the country and targeting marginalised groups to ensure they have access to this work through bespoke reading groups. By making a donation of £10,000 and over, you will help us to engage new communities of readers in outstanding work by women writers.

Your gift is a donation, which for UK tax-payers Gift Aid can be claimed against, adding to its value*. In recognition of your support we will be delighted to acknowledge you as a member of the Women’s Prize Readers’ Circle on our website and in our programmes. We’d also like to invite you to join us through unique invitations and opportunities to explore our work. These include:

  • An invitation with a plus-one to the glamorous award ceremony, where the winner is announced
  • Meet the shortlisted writers as they convene in London from around the world for the winner announcement
  • Be our guest at the shortlist celebration party
  • Two tickets to the sell-out shortlist readings
  • An invitation to our annual patrons’ event celebrating International Women’s Day, an opportunity to meet the judges and some of the longlisted authors
  • Receiving an exclusive signed set of the shortlisted books
  • Association with our talent development outreach, with activity reports
  • Quarterly digital updates on the impact of the programmes you have funded, and be ‘in-the-know’ with our latest news and campaigns
  • A thank-you for your generous support on our website

If you would like to discuss becoming a Readers’ Circle member, please contact Claire Shanahan at claire@womensprizeforfiction.co.uk

*Each level of support in the Patrons’ programme include a benefits portion which represents the cost of the scheme to the Trust and a suggested donation. The benefits can be purchased separately at the stated price; to do so, please use the contact details overleaf. The remaining balance is a suggested donation and is eligible for Gift Aid, which means we can claim 25p for every £1 you donate. For the Readers’ Circle, the split is: donation £9,520, benefits £480.

In a culture that still gives most of the big prizes to men, we still need an award in the arts just for women. It’s in everyone’s interest to even the score.
